Break the Barriers
We all face barriers in life. Some are physical, some are mental, some emotional and some spiritual. When we were young we wanted others to help us break through those barriers. But there comes a time in life when the only things others can do is help us recognize the barrier. We then must break through on our own--no one can help us.
While there may be many barriers in life, breaking through them is basically all the same. Financially people talk about the $100,000.00 barrier and how breaking through this level is a major step to abundance. Then there is the barrier of earning your first million. They say that this is the hardest, but after that, earning your second million is easy.
There are also mental barriers in how you see yourself and what you think you can do. We also face self-imposed spiritual barriers concerning our growth and development. It is important to note that if we allow ourselves to get intimidated and do not make the decision to break through a barrier, soon that barrier will become a ceiling and put limits on our lives. And I do not believe there should be any limit on the life of anyone and that with God and His Word we should be able to do all that we desire to do.
So let's take a look at some barriers and what others have done.
Luke
1:28-38:
And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Do you think there were any barriers concerning the birth of Christ? Did Mary face a barrier here in the gospel of Luke? Could anyone do it for her? The angel told her what was available. God wanted her to do it, all of creation needed her to do it, but it was up to Mary. When she said, "…be it unto me according to thy word" she broke through the barrier. Now, do you think there were other barriers to overcome?
Matthew
1:18-25:
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

We can look back and say that this was a no-brainer for Joseph, but from where he stood, it was a huge barrier and it wasn't the only one he faced.
Matthew
2:11-14:
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:

Only Joseph could accept Mary as his wife after she was already pregnant. Only Joseph could make the decision to believe what God had shown him and go into a strange land. He had to face those barriers alone and break through.
Now, what about Jesus Christ?
Luke
22:39-44:
And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.
And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

No one could help Christ make this decision. The angel encouraged him, but he alone had to break through this barrier and what a barrier it was. By doing it, Christ set a standard for us and an example to follow.
Hebrew
4:15 and 16:
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
If Christ broke through his barriers, we can follow the same path and with God's help overcome our obstacles. Life is full of obstacles, full of barriers, but we are called to reign in life by Christ Jesus-so no matter what it takes, we should be able to go through every barrier we face.
Psalm
18:29:
For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.
For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.
God bless you have a wonderful day.
