10 Life Lessons: Never and Always
Actions We
Should Never Take - #1
10 illustrations on how to live a productive, prosperous life.
The first 5 are listed as 'Nevers' the second 5 are listed as
'Always'. Follow these steps and you will be follow The Way
of Prosperity for success.
Number one is: Never let life upset you.
Life is not fair--life is what you make it, so take charge.
How many times have you heard a small child with tears in their
eyes whinning, 'That's not fair'? We try to teach our children
to play 'fair' but the truth in life is that life is not fair
so what are you going to do about it? Crying 'that's not fair'
will not change a think, so if you want to be successful
forget it!
We have been given the power by God to make life whatever we
want it to be, so that's what we should do. It doesn't matter
what others do. It doesn't matter what happens around us.
It doesn't matter how big or small it is. We set our own
course with God at our side and determine our own results.
So never waste precious time getting upset with what life
deals out, just start taking action to make it right.
Action We Should Never Take - #2
Number two is: Never feel sorry for yourself,
no one else does so it's a waste of time.
Determine what it is that you desire in life and go
get it. This is a lesson that we should have learned
before the first grade but as with so many things we didn't.
Feeling sorry for yourself resolves absolutely nothing. It's
only when we make a decision that we do not enjoy our present
situation and determine that we want another that we start to
move in the right direction.
Some may think the world heartless because it doesn't seem to
care. But they misunderstand the big picture and think pity
is compassion.
Having pity on someone is just feeling sorry for them. Having
compassion motivates the individual to provide help.
In the Gospel of Luke chapter 10, it says that the Samaritan
had compassion on the injured man and helped him. People who
want to feel sorry for themselves don't want help, they just
want to feel sorry and that doesn't change anything.
So never feel sorry for yourself. Determine what you desire
in life and start taking action go get it done.
Actions We Should Never Take - #3
Number three is: Never pace yourself or give less than your
best effort.
Approach everything you do with all the energy you have,
finish it and then take a break.
This may be a departure from what most people think, but it
is very important to understand. There is a pacing in life that
we must maintain, but the rest comes between events not during
the events.
If someone gets used to pacing themselves during an event they
will be lacking the focus and energy that is needed to push
through. We should approach every thing that we do with
enthusiasm and energy giving our very best to see it come to
pass and then rest up for the next one.
In sports you will find athletes that get in the habit of pacing
themselves in competition, thinking that they will save
themselves for a big push when the time is right.
There are several things wrong with this thinking both in sports
and in business. First of all, how do you know whether the next
play is the right one or not? If you go full speed on every play
then you will always be there for the right one. But if you are
taking breaks and waiting you have to guess if this is the right
time or not.
Secondly by taking breaks or pacing you never train yourself to
reach full conditioning or full potential to be your best.
Lastly, pacing during an event builds a bad habit of holding back
and waiting which will bleed over into many areas of life that
will hamper us.
So, never pace yourself or give less than your best effort.
Approach everything you do with all the energy you have, finish
it and then take a break-that's the way to be productive and
successful.
Actions We Should Never Take - #4
Number four is: Never blame anyone or anything for your
situation. And never make excuses for what happens in your
life. It's your life, take responsibility for it and make
it whatever you desire.
It seems that people have developed two very bad habits.
First they want to look for reasons to explain away everything
that happens in their lives. That in and of itself wouldn't be
too bad, but then they usually take the next step which is to
blame someone else for whatever reason they find.
Here is the problem, all the time that you take to find and
reason and then find someone to blame is all wasted time.
It doesn't change anything, it doesn't improve anything.
One of the biggest things to realize in life is that whatever
happens is my responsibility. Now people don't like to hear this
and especially Christians who will say, 'What about the devil?
I have an adversary who is after me.' Then they want to blame
that devil for everything bad.
Yes, I know he is there, but I say it's still our responsibility.
And the reason is that I believe Christ defeated the devil and
God has given us the power to rise above anything we desire when
we decide to do so.
What good is it to say that God has given me the victory if I am
always subject to the devil's abuse anytime he wants to hurt me?
Now I know things happen, but what I am saying is what profit is
there in sitting around and crying about how bad the devil has
been to me?
The best action is to take responsibility and make my life whatever
I choose.
Actions We Should Never Take - #5
Number five is: Never accept what others
choose for you--determine your own destiny.
Most people live their entire lives doing what others want
them to do. Now I understand service and giving to others as
much as anyone, but there must be a time in your life when
you decide to follow God's direction of
'Take heed unto yourself'.
God wants us to make the most of this life He has given us.
You can't do this if it is always subject to the direction
of others.
Now a lot of Christians believe that God gives us life and
then wants to control everything we do. Sorry, but I don't
believe that.
Yes God can guide us, instruct us and help us, but I do not
believe He controls us because He has given us free will. If
He was a controlling God, He never would have let Eve disobey
and we would still be living in the garden.
We should listen to feedback from others, but it's our life
and we have to live it-so make your own decisions.
Actions We Should Always Take - #1
Number one is: Always expect life to give you opportunities
and then make the best of them.
Most people are always looking for the dark cloud, for
the sky to fall and for something to go wrong.
If things are going good, they are looking for something
bad just around the corner. If things are going bad,
they just think that's the way it is suppose to be.
Our God is a God of blessing, a God of protection and a
God of provision. We need to know this and believe it by
always expecting life to give us opportunities at every turn.
Then we need to take action so that He can back us up and
prosper our way as He says in Psalm One "Whatsoever he doeth
shall prosper". That's the Way of Prosperity.
Actions We Should Always Take - #2
Number two is: Always help others be their best and do
their best, it will only make you better.
Most people in the work force don't believe this and certainly
don't practice it. Why? They are afraid.
What are they afraid of?
They are afraid that if they help someone, that person will
take their job. This is thinking represents the 'limited
universe' concept meaning that if someone takes my job,
it's gone and I'll never find another like it.
But there is an even bigger concept to consider here. The slang
expression is that 'what goes around, comes around' but the
biblical version is do unto others as you would have them do
unto you.
How we live our lives will definitely come back to us, so let
that be one of your guides when deciding what to do as you work
with others.
With God's goodness and mercy pursuing us all the days of our
lives as it says in Psalm 23, my helping others can't do
anything but open more doors for me. So reach out and do what
you can for others, then expect others to do the same for you
and if it doesn't happen right away, it doesn't matter because
God still has your back.
Actions We Should Always Take - #3
Number three is: Always push to better your last effort, your last try,
your last accomplishment.
It doesn't matter if you better it our not, but by making it
a practice to beat your best, you will do it more often.
By God's design we behave in habitual manners. We get used to
doing something and that is what we do. It is like the 'path of
least resistance' theory.
Now this can be good or bad depending on the habit that you set
up.
Once you establish a habit of always trying to do better than
before and striving to be your best it is a habit that will
benefit you tremendously.
Now remember that I said it doesn't matter if you did beat your
last record or not just that you have the mindset to do so
and that you try. Because that effort will bring more consistent
results than if you just try occasionally.
When I worked at the high school as a strength coach the kids they
would always come in try to beat their last record. We even had sheets they
filled out to record their results. Now the truth is that some
days they would come in and just not have the strength to pull
off a better result. But again that didn't matter nearly as much
as setting a mental habit of going for a better record.
So always strive to be better today than you were yesterday.
Actions We Should Always Take - #4
Number four is: Always believe in yourself, you have God Almighty
backing you up as well as all the He laws of the universe that He
put in motion to work for you.
Confidence in God and in yourself is an absolute must in this
life. Confidence in God is rarely a problem but confidence in
yourself tends to be a stumbling block.
Most people don't feel as though they can have confidence in
themselves unless they can say that they did something or
accomplished something really big or have some special skill.
While that may help in certain situations, it is not the
only requirement.
Believing in yourself has more to do with the fact that God is
your source of strength and power, but it can't just be left
up to Him. The second half of it is that we are willing to try
and to give everything we try our very best effort.
When you put those two things together it is powerful.
We believe in ourselves because we have a desire to grow and
we know that God Almighty wants to back us up.
Actions we should always take - #5
Number five is: Always walk in love because love never fails
therefore it is the strongest of all qualities in life.
People are often tempted to walk in love only toward the loving
but not to those that offend or attack them. This is mainly due
to the thinking that love is weak, but nothing could be further
from the truth.
Walking in love does not mean giving in to everyone or being
wimpy.
Walking in love means just what I Corinthians 13 says it means.
It shows patience, care, understanding and all the rest. By
walking in love we keep ourselves on the right track regardless
of what others are doing.
I can't control others but I can control my mind and my actions.
When I keep my thoughts and actions lined up with God's love
I will be walking in the greatest power and receiving the best
results. So always walk in love.
Well, that's it--the 5 "Nevers" and the 5 "Always", so good life lessons.
As we said from the beginning, it all starts with what you think
and the wonderful thing about that is that I have free will to
think whatever I want to. It doesn't matter whether I am male
or female, young or old, rich or poor-I can think what I choose
to think. And when I line my thoughts up with God's Word and
believe what He has promised I will get results.
So there you have it, your start in The Way of Prosperity.
